  • A friend of mine recommends the hairdresser in Technopark Sakura near the new 100 Yen Shop. I don't know the name of it, but it is across the street from the 7-11 and Ichibanya, the curry restaurant. (Go east past Kawachi and Kasumi, then past the 7-11 and you will see it on your left.)
  • If you live near Technopark Sakura, I think the one in front of Kasumi is good. I don't remember its name, but it shares small building with the dry cleaning shop, facing the parking lot not the road. You need to have their coupon in order to get discount, about 2,000 yen after discount.
  • I go to the salon in Seibu. I have been happy with colours there for 3 years but it is EXPENSIVE! I don't get a cut because cuts start at 4000 only for cutting (shampoo not included). Luckily I keep my hair long and straight so ask my husband to trim the bottom of it. Do the fringe (bangs) myself which took practice. By the way, no-one in the Seibu salon speaks English at all.

Salons Around Tsukuba

  • Mikami Hair (Tokyo) - good for extensions
  • Toni and Guy (Tokyo) - very popular with foreign women
  • Saon the salon (Tsuchiura) - hairdresser who speaks English
